Message from Rachael Shimmin – Chief Executive of Buckinghamshire Council
On 17 June 2021, our current Corporate Director for Children’s Services, Tolis Vouyioukas, will be leaving us to relocate to Athens for family reasons. I know this has not been an easy decision for him to make and his amazing contribution to Children’s Services in Buckinghamshire is well recognised; he will be greatly missed.
I want to thank Tolis for picking up the challenges we have faced in Children’s Services since 2017 and more recently with the pandemic. I am very proud of the achievements and the steady progress Tolis and his team have made. The recent unannounced Ofsted visit confirmed the strength of our self-assessment and takes the Council a step closer to the full re-inspection. A separate note is being sent out today with the link to the Ofsted published letter from this visit. There is a great deal to be proud of set out in this letter and I would encourage you all to read it.
The re-inspection of children’s social care remains a high priority for the Council. Although this will not take place until later this year, I have asked Tolis to be heavily involved with this re-inspection when the time comes. Between now and then he will also continue to support the senior leadership team in the directorate.
