Following the May 2021 Elections, Matthew Barber was elected as the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Thames Valley.
Having listened to residents from across the Thames Valley as part of his campaigning work, and over the last four years in his time as the Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew has developed a clear plan to be tough on crime ensuring safer communities which includes:
Following the election results, Matthew Barber said: “I am delighted to have been elected as the next Police and Crime Commissioner for the Thames Valley. I would also like to offer my thanks to Thames Valley residents for coming out and supporting my campaign, especially with the current COVID-19 restrictions in place.
“I plan to hit the ground running and deliver on my campaign promises.”
The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) support the PCC in his role. Staff provide support in a number of areas including strategic financial policy and planning, audit, performance monitoring, governance, service commissioning, grant funding, communications and engagement. An important role of the OPCC is providing support to victims of crime. Victims First, managed by the OPCC, provides free emotional and practical support to victims of crime across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
